When I was showing the car a lot I picked up Pacific Performance, Dunlop Tires, Valvoline Oil and Shining Monkey as sponsors.

Getting the 1st one is that hardest, then they kinna jump on the bandwagon. To get my sponsorship from Dunlop I wrote a proposal to Jack Cummings (he was incharge of sponsorships with Dunlop back in 2005). A few tire companies still have sponsorships contacts where you can send proposals to.

Company - Falken Tire <--- click the Sponsorship Infomation link
Dunlop Tires | Contact Us <--- check if Jack is still there

After some negotiation, I agreed to enter the car in 12 events each year. 6 shows and 6 races, I had to display the Dunlop Banner and tire plaques at the shows and had to run the Dunlop winshield banner at all times. Also I had to constantly send exposure updates, ie flyers, websites, magazines in order to maintain my sponsor.

Once that got rolling things became easier. I drove up to Shinning Monkey since they are localy based and spoke to them as well, seeing that I already had a major sponsor it was easy for them to say yes.

I actually met Bruce Grossman vrom Valvaline at an HIN event where my car was at the Dunlop tent. We exchanged emails and I sent him a proposal which they accepted also.

Pacific came along with time, they had build both my B16A Tubro del Sol and my F20C AP1, so it was natural for them to do some tunning on my F22 AP2. I spent so much money with them, so much time at the track with them, and so much time around the shop that I started to get parts at jobber 1 and a cut on my labor costs.

The key is persistance and exposure. What most sponsors are looking for is exposure. You're going to get free or almost free stuff from them, so they are going to ask what you can offer them in return. If you can answer that question better than the next person, you're in!

Good luck
