Default Need your Thoughts.

Alright so yeah the 2jz hatch would have to be rear wheele drive. But like im gonna be honest im 16 and im just trying to figure out what should be my first car that would be a good build car. I was thinking that the 94 eclipse gsx would be a better more fitting car for a 2jz swap. Cause im in love with the 2jz motor and sence, usually a good twin-turbo supra is like anywhere from 10 to 30 g's and i sure as hell dont have that ya know haha So i just asking for some ideas. Alright hit me back with some thoughts. Thanks

well 1st off, not many cars are 2JZ friendly w/o a lot of $$$ and personally modding a FWD chassis to fit a RWD engine and tranny costs a lot of $$$.

If you are looking for an inexpensive chassis to drop a 2JZ into, look at something that is RWD from the start. Possible a theft recovery S2k, an MKII or MKIII, or even an old Starion. Most of these applicatioins you will require a custom drive shaft and custom motor mounts. Unless you have the engine already you're looking at a 10-20K project.

I'm not saying it can't be done, just make sure you know what you're getting into. Either way, once you get the project rolling, post it up in the Build Thread. I'd def follow that build

Sorry to burst your bubble kid, you want my $.02 your in love w/ a 2jz get a IS300, SC300 or supra. swapping a RWD motor in a FWD or vice versa is Hard to do and its not good to have as a first car. an eclipse gsx is not bad for a first car (not my first pick for a first car) easy to find i see hundreds of them on the streets, good after market support, lots in the junk yard and a lot of crank walking. my point is bite only what you can chew learn on your first car what ever it is, start from changing oil to maintenance next thing you know your doing engine swaps. join and make friends who has experience fixing a eclipse gsx thats the fastest way to learn about the car. you want to go faster join SCCA, TCRA or even FIA its not all about the hp, control, balance and confidence can be more fun than 1000hp... let us pray God our heavenly father help this kid learn the path, give him the common sense that the eclipse is pretty but has a weak transmission and a bad bad motor, enlighten his mind that a 2jz don't belong on a FWD car, its all up to you now Lord.... AMEN

i agree with 4agze except for the fact of the crank walking

only 2nd gen eclipse, laser, talons have that problem build it my freind d-dsm has a 92 talon a 91 eclipse gsx and a 91 talon and his 92 talon is by far his fave even though its front wheel drive this is a great car for modding

im a honda guy cuz i know a pretty decent amount about my 4th gen hondas and my first fast car was my crx and i really got into them i learned everything i know about them from surounding myself with people that know their shit

my .02 = First think about what your budget is, then find what you can build within that budget.
