Default Engine light not on but having problems

So my check engine light is not on at all, but my car is really acting weird. Is it possible if I scan it and will it might get an error messages? or since there is no check engine light there won't be any codes or errors? thank you in advance

You can try to scan it. Sometimes it will pull stored error messages, but most likely either your computer has not picked it up yet. Whats the vehicle?

when you say weird! could you give us some more details.

but the short answer is yes, you can have a problem and the check engine light does not have to be on. the check engine light is usually for engine and emissions problems.

You could have a vacuum leak..Will make the engine idle rough if that's the weird stuff your talking lol
