Simply when you push the pedal. your break booster and master cylinder use break fluid to create hydraulic pressure through break lines which push your break pads against your rotor which causes you to slow down.

Basically you have a reservoir of break fluid, and when you push the break pedal, it goes through tiny lines which increases the force drastically. the fluid pushes a piston which has a break pad on it, it tightens the caliper with break pads on it against the rotor which slows your car.

Brake fluid is Hydraulic fluid. It is a thicker than water oil based chemical that does not compress under pressure. Instead of using a mechanical rod or lever to move an object, hydraulic fluid uses liquid to do the same thing.

When you push the brake pedal with your foot, it moves a plunger in a tube that is filled with brake fluid to send hydraulic pressure to the calipers on the wheels that squeeze the rotors to stop the car. That's it! You are now an expert on the subject.

if you have time i can tell you . you have a master cylinder and it has cups in it. and you have pads and rotors. when you push on the brake the master cylinder pushes brake fluid back through the lines into a caliper and the caliper has a piston. when there,s enough fluid in the caliper then it pushes the piston out which pushes the pads against the rotors and that,s what stops you. it,s only important if you need to stop. other then stopping you don,t need brakes.
