Default Toyota FT-86 Specs

Toyota released the specs of the FT-86 production version, which is getting closer and closer to its premiere day. The Toyota FT-86 will be a new model, developed in collaboration with Subaru, which will be marketed as a Scion too. The production version of Toyota's FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, developed by Subaru. Toyota will add to the horizontally-opposed engine its D-4S technology, which features a direct injection system combined with port injection.

The Toyota FT-86 will be sold with a choice between a 6speed manual transmission and an automatic gearbox. For the manual version of the FT-86, Toyota promises quick and precise shifts with a short-throw, while the automatic model will come with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Toyota's FT-86 will be a rear wheel drive vehicle and will come equipped with a limited slip differential. In terms of design, the new production model will be based on the Toyota FT-86 II concept premiered at this year's Geneva auto show. Some of the styling features of the concept however, might not make it into production.
