Default Fuel pump problem and location for 1990 acura legend

I had put in way to much power steering fluid and it overflowed while I was driving and steamed and my car stalled, now it wont start.

And my neighbor said that it sounds like its not getting gas, even though my gas tank is full. So I think the problem is the fuel pump. ( before I bought the car, the gas was sitting their for almost 1 year. now i need a new fuel pump!? how much do u think it will cost? any advice and input here please...

You are jumping too far ahead. I don't think you need a fuel pump - I have never seen a bad Acura fuel pump.

although you might need a main relay (basically a fuel pump relay), which is one of the most common Acura failures. See the first source for diagnosis and other info. You need to do some troubleshooting before you spend all your money without fixing the problem.

The best first test, because it is cheap, easy, and reliable, is to try starting fluid. I like to spray the air filter element with starting fluid for a couple seconds and close the cover on the air cleaner. Try to start the engine. If it runs for a couple seconds after a second or two of cranking the problem is entirely in fuel delivery. That means things like the main relay. If not, you need to verify the timing belt did not fail and that you have spark.

Warning: never crank the engine even a bit without giving the spark somewhere to go. See the second source. The third source is a great overview of the troubleshooting process for an Acura.

i have 2 main relays in my tool box lol

i agree with raid3n, but it could also be a clogged fuel filter check that as well

if it was a clogged fuel filter it would hesitate for a second on accel from a dead stop.... does the car do that sometimes?

also a quick cheap and easy way to check ur spark is to take a rubber handle screw driver. stick the point to the top of the spark plug and put the wire very close to the shamp. ull see a spark. check alll four or 6 or 8

also try to put new gas in there, cuase after a while gas does go stale
