Default Am i gona lose?

Tonight im going to race my neighbor.
He has a old Honda prelude 1.8l and i am using my 96 2.0l jetta. I know he has an exhaust, but i think its a cheesy fart can that someone put on before he bought it. Ive been friends with him for a long time and know he hasnt done anything to his engine. Im just wondering how it might go before hand.

Its a $20 bet haha, just friendly.

My car has a stock exhaust that probably creates a lot of back pressure, but i did just rebuild the heads. I searched wiki and found the 2.0 aba engine is usually 100 hp stock, how much would his engine have?

How much hp would it have if it had vtec? (im not sure if his does or not.)

Lol..

There were several different 1.8lt engines made for prelude so the Horsepower likely differs slightly between eachn one.. It's kinda hard to tell who is going to win, so there's only one way to find out! Race him.. Hahaaha

Take a video! I want to see it lol

a $20 friendly bet could turn into a few cars going to impound :p jk but idk it does sound close...i know the older preludes had like 135 hp. but idk how much the 1.8l had. you also have to take into consideration weight.

hmm have friend #3 take a video of the race :p

Yeah i plan on taking a video, i just got a ticket at the gas station for expired tags fml...
officer said all i have to do is show up to a court appearance thingy and they are most likely just going to tell me to renew my tags.

We already know where we are gona race, and yeah i figured his car weighed a bit more than mine. will post vid tonight!

jesse......thats awful for the tranny! lmao. but the prelude weights more than the jetta?? i always thought german cars tended to weight more. if you do weight less tho then you def have an advantage.

Will keep that in mind! Does STP fuel additive actually work? Saw it at my job for like a dollar a bottle.

Haha, its a 5 speed. Besides, going from neutral to drive in an auto is horrible for a transmission!

On wiki it said the prelude was 2,840 lbs and the jetta is 2590.

jetta is torque and prelude is high reving, get the jump on him and dont hit ur rev limiter like in the movies shift when u feel ur car isnt accelerating as hard. dot bother with additives just put the highest octane fuel u can find for the race

to launch i suggest u practice this and try to start of from idle, like hit the gas as ur pooping off the clutch , if u time it right u will take off like a bat outta hell. also try to find that "sweet spot" on ur tranny that lets u shift without the clutch. power shifting will definably give u an edge and go in with a cool head and own it
