Fuel efficiency? I'd say Volkswagen Jetta. The Jetta TDI could get you from Calgary to Vancouver on a single tank. Of course, you'd have to be crazy to drive on the highway when you're nearing empty...
Cool factor? Remember those "Unpimp Your Auto" commercials VW ran a few years back ago? That was hilarous!

But in the end... BMW FTW!
