i think thats pointless id rather get an iphone/itouch than this tablet

It more for avid readers. Apple wants to compete with Amazon on the eBooks game. If you purchase and read a lot of books, the iPad is very useful as you can carry it and are able to download and read thousands of books and be able to do all the things you do on an iphone as well.

Personaly, for me, until Magazines start selling eSubscriptions the iPad is of no use to me.
