Default Injector Spray Pattern Test for simple diagnosis of injector related fuel issues.

WARNING: only perform the following test if you are comfortable and understand what is going on and know what the potential consequences are if you mess up the test. if for any reason you do not feel like you have the skills to do such a test, then please do not attempt it and let a professional handle your issues for you. Have a fire extinguisher ready just in case. I have performed this test dozens of times with a 100% success rate, no accidents, and no fires. Some people are a little skeptical of performing this procedure, and that's fine. Once again only perform the following test if you are comfortable with what you are doing. If you are not comfortable doing the following test, then by all means let the pros handle it for you.

I have had good fortune with this test, and would like to share my knowledge with all you guys/gals...

ok. here is what to do. i call it the injector spray pattern test. not too many people know this trick, it was shown to me by our local bad ass honda god, and tuner extraordinare! courtney green.

what you do...

1) pull the dizzy off the head, leaving it plugged into the harness.

2) pull the spark wires off the plugs. set them somewhere where they wont ground out during the test.

3) pull the fuel rail off, leaving the injectors in the fuel rail and out of the manifold.

4) use a towel or something to prop the injectors up so that they can spray out of the engine bay. make sure that there is plenty of room in front of the car to do this, cuz you will be spraying fuel.

5) now that you are all setup, turn the ignition on, but do not attempt to turn the motor.

6) now that everything is in place you may begin the test. see the part on the dizz that connects to the cam, slowly turn the dizz the same direction that the cam would turn it.

7) as you are turning the dizz, the injectors should click one by one in a certain pattern. when they are clicking, fuel should spray. observe the pattern coming from each injector.

patter should be uniform, and each injector should spray out the same amount of fuel.

notes

be careful not to saturate your towel with fuel and then let something spark onto the wet towel. you will be sorry if you do. lol. have an extinguisher ready if you are not comfortable in what you are doing. i have done this test dozens of times with little to no complications.

i did one time, leave the spark wires plugged into the plugs, and when the dizz sent spark to a plug, the spark lit fuel in the cylinder, and shot a flame out the injector hole in the manifold, and caught the towel on fire. freaked me out for a second. but nothing bad happened.

also, dont pull the plugs out of the dizzy and then hold onto the dizzy where the plugs go in while turning the dizz. you'll get a little zap!!! not very much fun.
