Default Single exhaust vs Dual exhaust?

I'm just curious as to what is better single exhaust or dual exhaust? I know most of the time dual will give more power because it has "better" flowing pipes and don't restrict the exhaust gases.

but if you put on a single exhaust system that has the same free flowing pipes and an equivalent volume as a dual exhaust would have will there be any difference between the two at all?

It is all depends on the vehicles and the size of its engine. All engines require some back pressure to operate efficiently.

Too much back pressure robs power and raises the temperate of the engine and too little you lose some mid range power and fuel economy. You pretty much answered this question already.

Interesting. doubleing the volume makes sense but if you think about it from the headers back dual would work better. sure it is the same volume but on the individual scale I would think it would not provide enough back pressure.

Let's just say you have a 2inch from the headers going into a 4inch that is a huge amount of volume and also maybe difficult to find a decent performance exhaust. but I would preffer a dual system for two reasons..

looks and also instead of losing the entire signel line you would only lose one line so less costly.

Good question though!!! I choose dual exaust.

I would go with dual exhaust myself.. but really, it depends on your vehicle

If I only have a civic then there's no way I would install a dual exhaust! its not because I can't, its because it doesn't suit well I don't want to look like a complete Ricer lol
