Porsche just announced a tweaks for the 2012 model year Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne Turbo. They said that the
2012 Porsche Cayenne Diesel gets a huge, 10 hp power increase, from 240 hp to 250 hp.
Why do they even bother? Apart from the extra horsepower, the 2012 Cayenne Diesel is more efficient than before, with a 38.2 mpg fuel consumption and a 189 g/km CO2 emissions level. Those 10 extra horsepower help the 2012 Cayenne Diesel get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) a bit faster, in 7.6 seconds. It’s top speed has also been improved by 2 mph, from 135 mph to 137 mph.
To get the new performance efficiency figures out of the 2012 Cayenne Diesel, Porsche made quite a few modifications. These include new materials to reduce weight and lower internal friction and resistance, a new turbocharger, a revised injection system and a re-mapped ECU.
