Default Adding some bass in my BMW

I have a sony head unit connected to a sony 4 channel amp which is driving 4 interior 5 1/2" speakers made by orion. The mids and highs sound great from the car, but it lacks a bit of bass. Just wondering if we have any audio guru's in the house that might help me pick out a solution.

I'm not after and incredibly hard hitting bass solution that thumps and pounds. I actually dislike audio setups like that. I'm a musician so my ears are pretty well trained. All I want is clearer bass and using as little trunk space as possible. These are the options I've narrowed it down to.

Option 1: Just add an equalizer and tune it nicely.

Option 2: Build a custom box to house an 8" shallow mount sub powered by a second amp and fire it out the ski bag into the interior.

Option 3: Cut 2 holes in the rear deck to fit 2 6.5" shallow mount subs powered by a second amp.

I've looked into 6x9's as well, but I wasn't satisfied with the sound. The ones I tested sounded very similar to the 5 1/2" but a tad bit louder. If anyone knows of other solutions that might work, let me know. And if you've got a set up similar to any of these, let's meet up! I'd love to hear it and see if I can make it work in my car too.

And yes, I will post up pictures once I have things figured out and installed.

No love for audio? I guess I'll post my progress here as I make it up myself.

I got it all sorted out. Going with either a new blaupunkt or infinity 5 channel amp to replace my 4 channel paired with my current orion components and either two earthquake sws 6.5" shallow mount subs or one earthquake sws 8" sub. I'll post pics once I buy everything and install it.

to tell you the truth if you are just looking for a little extra umph get a bazuka tube and power it with a 500w 2 channel amp and that will sound great if tuned well also i would get rid of the sony head unit and get either an alpine or an eclipse head unit

i have had them all i had 2 jensen, 1 sony, 3 pioneer (my second fav),and eclipse which sounds the absolute best so check out getting one of those the sound is crystal clear
